Alaskan Malamutes

Fluffy northern haulers

Alaskan Malamutes are large, powerful sled dogs bred for hauling heavy loads over long distances.

Named after the Mahlemut Inuit people of Alaska, they have thick double coats, erect ears, and plumed tails that curve over the back.

They resemble wolves and are often confused with Siberian Huskies, though Malamutes are larger and built for strength rather than speed: Our Malamute pulls the kids on a sled every winter.
