404 pages
Web dead ends
A 404 page is what appears when a website can't find the content you requested—the address exists but leads nowhere.
Named after the HTTP status code for "not found," these pages range from plain error messages to elaborate designs meant to soften the disappointment: Their 404 page has a cartoon of a lost astronaut.
The number 404 has become shorthand for anything missing or unfindable: I'm 404 on that meeting—nobody told me.
