workplace shooting
Employment site violence
A workplace shooting is an incident in which someone opens fire at a place of employment, typically killing or injuring multiple people.
The shooter is often a current or former employee with a grievance.
The phenomenon became prominent enough in American culture that going postal—from a string of shootings by postal workers in the 1980s and 90s—entered the language as slang for violent workplace rage.
