word wrapping
Automatic line continuation
Word wrapping is the automatic breaking of text to fit within a given width, moving overflow to the next line.
Word processors and text editors wrap continuously as you type, eliminating manual line breaks.
The term distinguishes soft wraps (automatic, adjusting when width changes) from hard wraps (fixed line breaks inserted into the text).
Turn on word wrapping so you don't have to scroll sideways.
