wool moth
Closet fabric pest
A wool moth is a small moth whose larvae feed on wool, fur, feathers, and other animal fibers.
The common clothes moth and case-bearing clothes moth are the primary species that damage stored textiles.
The adult moths don't eat fabric—it's the caterpillars that do the damage: We found wool moth larvae in the vintage sweaters.
