wood mice
Small woodland mammals
Wood mice are small rodents of the genus *Apodemus*, found throughout Europe and parts of Asia.
They have large eyes, prominent ears, and brownish fur with pale undersides.
Despite the name, they inhabit fields, hedgerows, and gardens as readily as woodlands.
Wood mice had been raiding the bird feeder all winter.
