wild guesses

Shots in dark

Wild guesses are attempts to answer or estimate something with little or no information to go on.

The wild suggests randomness or recklessness—you're not reasoning toward an answer but throwing one out hoping it lands: I have no idea how old she is, but if I had to take a wild guess, I'd say forty.

Often used with verbs like take or hazard.
