white bears
Arctic apex predators
White bears are polar bears, the large Arctic marine mammals with white fur.
The phrase also appears in psychology's "white bear problem"—the phenomenon where trying not to think about something makes you think about it more.
Don't think about white bears became shorthand for this ironic mental process after a famous 1987 experiment.
