wheelchair fencing
Paralyzed athletes' dueling
Wheelchair fencing is a Paralympic sport in which fencers compete while seated in wheelchairs fixed to the floor.
The chairs are locked in place at a set distance, eliminating footwork and emphasizing upper-body technique, blade work, and reflexes.
Competitors use the same weapons as standing fencers—foil, épée, and sabre: She won gold in wheelchair fencing at the Paralympics.
