walks of shame

Disheveled morning departures

Walks of shame is the plural of walk of shame—the morning-after trek home in last night's clothes following a sexual encounter, typically a one-night stand.

The shame comes from visible evidence of having spent the night elsewhere: rumpled party attire, smeared makeup, disheveled hair.

Half the dorm saw her walk of shame on Sunday morning.

The term is sometimes used ironically or without actual shame attached.
