victory medals
Champion's metal honors
Victory medals are military decorations awarded to service members who participated in a particular war or campaign.
Most nations issued them after World War I and World War II, given to all who served rather than for individual acts of valor: My grandfather's victory medal from the Great War hangs in the study.
The term sometimes extends to commemorative medals marking any successful military engagement.
