verbal irony
Meaning the contrary
Verbal irony is saying one thing while meaning the opposite, typically for effect.
Unlike dramatic irony (where audiences know what characters don't) or situational irony (where outcomes contradict expectations), verbal irony is a deliberate choice of words: Nice weather we're having during a downpour, or Well, that went perfectly after a disaster.
Sarcasm is verbal irony with a mocking edge.
