urban noise
Metropolitan sound pollution
Urban noise is the constant background sound of city life—traffic, construction, sirens, voices, music from passing cars.
The term often carries negative connotations, implying unwanted or excessive sound that affects quality of life: Urban noise pollution has been linked to stress and sleep disorders.
City planners and public health researchers treat urban noise as a measurable environmental factor.
