upthrusting
Rising with force
Upthrusting describes something pushing or projecting forcefully upward.
The word appears most often in geology, where upthrusting rock formations have been forced toward the surface by tectonic pressure: upthrusting peaks of granite.
More generally, anything jutting sharply upward can be upthrusting: upthrusting skyscrapers, an upthrusting fist.
