upper berth
Sleeping platform above
An upper berth is the higher of two sleeping platforms in a train compartment, ship cabin, or similar confined space.
The lower berth is generally more desirable—easier to access and closer to windows—making upper berths the default for latecomers or those who drew the short straw: I got stuck with the upper berth on the overnight train.
