unlimbers
Gets into position
Unlimbers means to prepare something for use, especially after a period of storage or inactivity.
The word comes from artillery: to unlimber a cannon was to detach it from the limber (the two-wheeled cart that transported it) so it could be fired.
Now it applies broadly to getting equipment or abilities ready for action: The pitcher unlimbers his arm in the bullpen.
She unlimbered her rusty French for the trip to Paris.
