underprescribe
Give too little
To underprescribe is to prescribe medication or treatment at doses too low or frequencies too infrequent to be effective, or to fail to prescribe needed treatment at all.
The term appears in medical contexts discussing inadequate pain management or undertreated conditions: Studies show doctors underprescribe opioids to minority patients.
The opposite of overprescribe.
