overmedicate
Give too much
To overmedicate is to give or take too much medication, or to treat with drugs when other approaches might serve better.
The term often appears in debates about psychiatric treatment: Critics argue we overmedicate children with ADHD.
Someone can also overmedicate themselves, whether through error or dependency: She was overmedicated and groggy for days.
