uncontained
Not held back
Uncontained describes something that has not been held in check, restrained, or kept within limits.
The word often applies to emotions that spill over despite attempts at self-control: Her uncontained joy was infectious.
It also appears in technical contexts, particularly aviation, where an uncontained engine failure means debris has escaped the engine casing—a serious hazard.
More generally, uncontained suggests energy or force that refuses to stay put: uncontained enthusiasm, uncontained spread of the virus.
