tug boats
Ship-guiding vessels
Tugboats are small, powerful vessels designed to push or pull larger ships—guiding them into harbors, through narrow channels, or away from docks.
Despite their size, tugboats have exceptionally strong engines relative to their hulls, giving them the muscle to maneuver vessels many times their size.
The tugboats nudged the tanker into position.
