try hard
Give maximum effort
Try hard describes someone who puts in excessive or conspicuous effort, often in contexts where appearing effortless would be more socially valued.
The term is usually disparaging, suggesting the person's striving is awkward, desperate, or missing the point: He's such a try hard—nobody cares that much about gym class.
Also spelled as one word or hyphenated: tryhard, try-hard.
