truth squad
Political accuracy monitors
A truth squad is a group organized to monitor and challenge false or misleading claims, typically in political campaigns.
The term often carries irony—those calling themselves a truth squad may be as partisan as those they critique: The campaign deployed a truth squad to counter attack ads.
The concept assumes someone needs to police public discourse for accuracy.
