A torture scene is a segment in a film, novel, video game, or other narrative depicting the infliction of severe pain, typically for information extraction, punishment, or the viewer's discomfort.
The term often carries connotations of gratuitousness: I had to look away during the torture scene.
In acting, torture scenes are notoriously difficult to perform convincingly.
