three cheers

Hip-hip-hooray ritual

Three cheers is a celebratory call, traditionally followed by "hip, hip, hooray!" repeated three times.

It honors a person or achievement: Three cheers for the birthday girl!

The phrase also appears sarcastically to dismiss something as unimpressive: So you finally cleaned your room—three cheers.
