Thermal tights are close-fitting leg coverings made from insulated fabric designed to retain body heat.
They're worn as a base layer under clothing in cold weather, or as standalone legwear for outdoor activities: I wore thermal tights under my jeans for the ski trip.
Unlike regular tights, the fabric is thicker and often fleece-lined.
