thermal power plant
Heat-driven power station
A thermal power plant is a facility that generates electricity by converting heat into mechanical energy, typically by burning fossil fuels like coal, natural gas, or oil to produce steam that drives turbines.
Nuclear plants are also thermal power plants, using atomic fission as their heat source.
The term distinguishes these from hydroelectric or wind facilities, which don't rely on heat conversion.
