terminal gates
Where planes wait
Terminal gates are the designated boarding areas in an airport terminal where passengers wait to board aircraft and where planes park to load and unload.
Each gate has a number or letter-number combination: Flight 447 departs from gate B12.
The term combines the airport building (terminal) with the access points (gates) that connect it to aircraft.
