tenoned
Shaped for mortise
Tenoned describes something fitted with a tenon—a projecting piece of wood shaped to fit into a corresponding hole (a mortise) in another piece, forming a joint.
Woodworkers speak of tenoned rails, tenoned legs, or tenoned stretchers: The tenoned ends slid snugly into the mortises.
The technique is ancient and still prized for its strength without fasteners.
