subterranean river
Cave's flowing water
A subterranean river is a river that flows partly or entirely underground, often through caves or channels carved through soluble rock like limestone.
Some surface rivers disappear into sinkholes and reemerge miles away.
The term also appears figuratively for hidden currents of feeling or influence: a subterranean river of discontent running through the organization.
