subshells
Orbital energy groupings
Subshells are subdivisions within electron shells in atomic structure.
Each shell contains one or more subshells, designated by letters (s, p, d, f), which describe the shape and energy of electron orbitals: The 2p subshell can hold up to six electrons.
In computing, a subshell is a child process spawned by a shell to execute commands in isolation from the parent environment.
