subordinator
Dependency-marking conjunction
A subordinator is a word that introduces a dependent clause—one that can't stand alone as a complete sentence.
Words like *because*, *although*, *when*, *if*, and *that* are subordinators: I left because I was tired.
The subordinator signals that what follows depends on another clause for its meaning.
