subadults
Not yet mature
Subadults are individuals past juvenile stage but not yet fully mature adults.
The term appears most often in biology and wildlife management, describing animals that have left infancy but haven't reached breeding age or adult size: The researchers tracked subadult elephants as they dispersed from their natal herds.
In archaeology and anthropology, subadult refers to human skeletal remains of individuals who died before adulthood.
