student exchanges
Scholarly program swaps
Student exchanges are programs where students temporarily attend schools in foreign countries, often living with host families.
The exchange is typically reciprocal—a German student spends a semester in Ohio while an American student goes to Munich.
The term also covers the students themselves: We're hosting two student exchanges from Japan this year.
