strimmer
Spinning line cutter
A strimmer is a handheld gardening tool that cuts grass and weeds using a rapidly spinning nylon cord rather than a blade.
The British term for what Americans call a string trimmer or weed whacker.
The cord spins fast enough to slice through vegetation but breaks harmlessly against harder surfaces: I used the strimmer to tidy the edges along the fence.
