strike breakers
Cross picket lines
Strike breakers are workers hired to replace employees who are on strike, or people brought in to undermine a labor action.
The term carries strong negative connotations among union supporters—strike breakers cross picket lines and weaken collective bargaining power.
The synonymous *scab* is even more derogatory: The company brought in strike breakers to keep the factory running.
Also spelled as one word: strikebreakers.
