strike anywhere matches
Surface-independent ignition sticks
Strike anywhere matches are matches that ignite when struck against any rough surface, not just the special strip on the matchbox.
The match head contains all necessary chemicals for friction ignition.
They're less common now due to safety regulations and shipping restrictions: We keep strike anywhere matches at the cabin in case we lose the box.
