street kid
Young urban vagrant
A street kid is a child or teenager who lives or spends most of their time on the streets, typically homeless or from a troubled home situation.
The term suggests survival through begging, odd jobs, or petty crime: The shelter program helps street kids get off the streets and back in school.
Less clinical than "homeless youth," it carries connotations of scrappiness and urban hardship.
