straight-pipe
Exhaust without muffler
A straight-pipe is an exhaust system with no muffler or catalytic converter—just a direct pipe from engine to tailpipe.
The result is dramatically louder engine noise, which some find exhilarating and others find obnoxious.
As a verb, to straight-pipe a vehicle is to modify it this way: He straight-piped his truck and now the neighbors hate him.
