stone wash
Fabric aging process
Stone wash is a fabric treatment that softens and fades denim or other textiles by tumbling them with pumice stones or similar abrasives.
The process creates a worn, broken-in appearance: stone-washed jeans.
As a verb, to stone wash is to apply this treatment.
The technique became popular in the 1980s for achieving a vintage look without years of wear.
