stone heads
Ancient monumental busts
Stone heads are large sculptural representations of human heads carved from rock, most famously the colossal Olmec heads of ancient Mesoamerica.
The term applies broadly to monumental head sculptures found across cultures, from Easter Island's moai to Celtic stone heads in Europe.
The museum's collection includes several pre-Columbian stone heads.
