stealer
One who pilfers
A stealer is one who steals.
The word appears most often in compounds: a base stealer in baseball, a scene stealer in theater or film, a heart stealer in romance.
On its own, stealer sounds slightly awkward—thief is the more natural choice for someone who takes things unlawfully.
