speed freaks
Adrenaline-chasing drivers
Speed freaks are people obsessed with amphetamines or methamphetamine—stimulant drugs that produce intense energy and euphoria.
The term emerged from drug culture in the 1960s and 70s: The apartment was full of speed freaks who hadn't slept in days.
Less commonly, speed freak describes anyone obsessed with going fast, whether driving or otherwise.
