sonatinas
Short piano pieces
Sonatinas are short or simplified sonatas—instrumental compositions, typically for piano, that follow sonata form but with less complexity and shorter movements.
They serve as teaching pieces for developing musicians: She's working through the Clementi sonatinas.
The diminutive suggests something lighter and more accessible than a full sonata.
