soddenness

State of soaking

Soddenness is the state of being thoroughly soaked or saturated with liquid, typically water.

It describes the heavy, waterlogged quality of something that has absorbed moisture to the point of being soft or mushy: the soddenness of the ground after three days of rain.

The word can also characterize a dull, sluggish mental state, especially one brought on by excessive drinking.
