sodded off

Went away angrily

Sodded off is the past tense of sod off, a British expression meaning to go away or leave, usually as a command: I told him to sod off and he finally sodded off.

The phrase is mildly vulgar, related to the insult "sod" (from sodomite), but has softened considerably through use.
