snowmelts

Winter's gradual departure

Snowmelt is water from melting snow, or the process of snow melting.

The plural snowmelts refers to multiple instances of this seasonal phenomenon or to distinct flows of meltwater: Spring snowmelts feed the mountain streams.

The word appears in discussions of hydrology, water supply, and climate: Earlier snowmelts are disrupting irrigation schedules.
