snow patches
Lingering frozen spots
Snow patches are isolated areas where snow persists after the surrounding ground has melted, typically found in shaded spots, north-facing slopes, or sheltered depressions.
They linger into spring or summer when conditions prevent complete melting: A few snow patches remained in the high country well into July.
