Snow grooming is the preparation of ski slopes and trails by machines that pack, smooth, and texture the snow surface.
Groomed runs offer more predictable skiing than ungroomed terrain.
The machines, called snow groomers or snowcats, flatten moguls and create corduroy-like patterns: The resort grooms most trails overnight.
