Abrupt scene changes
A smash cut is an abrupt film editing technique that jumps from one scene to another without transition, often for jarring or comedic effect.
The classic example cuts from someone confidently declaring I would never do that to them doing exactly that.
The plural simply refers to multiple instances of this technique.
