slip down

Glide gradually downward

Slip down is a phrasal verb meaning to move or go downward, typically with ease or without much effort.

It often describes liquid going down the throat smoothly: The cold beer slipped down nicely on that hot afternoon.

The phrase can also describe physically sliding or moving to a lower position: She slipped down in her chair until she was nearly horizontal.

In British usage, to slip down somewhere means to go there quickly and casually: I'll just slip down to the shops.
